David Andrew Porter studied medieval studies and comparative literature in Canada before completing his PhD in Neo-Latin at the University of Cambridge (Clare College). He completed a post-doc at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and is now an Associate Professor in the English Department at Hunan Normal University. He has recently recently published articles and translations of early modern poetry written in English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Greek, Latin and Hebrew and is writing a monograph on Latin verse satire and editing various texts for publication including the previously lost Poma Amoris of Adrian Beverland.
His research interests are: comparative literature, the history of poetry, late medieval and early modern literature, intellectual history, satire, translation and 20th-century poetry.
