He is the author of The Persian Novel: Ideology, Fiction and Form in the Periphery (Brill 2014), and World Literature and Hedayat’s Poetics of Modernity (Springer 2020), co-editor of Persian Literature as World Literature (Bloomsbury 2021), and Comparative Literature beyond Eurocentrism (forthcoming, 2022). He is also one of the founding editors of Journal of World Literature (Brill).

His research interests are comparative literary studies, translation, peripheral modernity, epistemology, intercultural exchange, and popular culture.
