主讲人简介:
Daniel Fried is Professor of Chinese at the University of Alberta, and Chair of the Department of East Asian Studies there. His research focuses on the history of China’s conceptions of language and communication; his most recent scholarly monograph, The First Print Era, describes the formation of a nascent print culture under the Northern Song. His next book, The Activist (forthcoming March 2026), is a work of literary non-fiction that explores the relevance of classical Daoist ideals to gentle forms of social activism. Among his other service contributions, he founded the MLA forum on Chinese literature before 1400, is a past president of the Association of Chinese and Comparative Literature, and is currently co-editor of the series, Routledge Studies in Comparative Chinese Literature and Culture.
